BIG IDEA:

When God uses the “least likely”, HE gets the glory

SCRIPTURES:

Joshua 2:1-24, 6:25, Psalm 62:5, 2 Corinthians 5:17, James 2:25, Hebrews 11:31

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q: Do you feel like a success, failure, or a bit of both? Why?

Q: How do the Scriptures/concepts from this week help you grow as a disciple who loves God, loves people & serves the world (lives on incarnational mission) in everyday life?

Q: Based on these Scriptures, how can you move from unbelief to belief, from just knowing to actually doing in your life?

Be With Jesus (Abide) / Love God (UP)...

Q: Read Joshua 2. Why was it so remarkable for Rahab to call Israel’s God “LORD” (Jehovah, the only One True God)?

Q: Rahab’s world was dominated & defined by hundreds of gods – all of which were pure evil. What kind of gods does our world have & what do we do with them?

Become Like Jesus(Formation) / Love People (IN)...

Q: Rahab received a new identity, community & purpose in life, as clearly seen in even the meaning of her name. Are you holding onto parts of your old identity instead of allowing God to make you a completely new creation? (2 Corinthians 5:17)

Do What Jesus Did / Serve the World (OUT)...

Q: How do you see the world around you searching & grasping for “cords” of hope? How can you lovingly & clearly point them to Jesus as our only True Hope?

ACTION STEPS

1) Take a “scarlet cord” & put it somewhere to remind you how Jesus is your only true hope & salvation & how He transforms us into a new creation wtih a new identity & purpose
