Resting & Remaining (October 5, 2025)

TODAY:

Resting & Remaining in Christ

BIG IDEA:

True peace is not found in ourselves, but through resting & remaining in the finished work of Christ.

SCRIPTURES:

Matthew 11:28-30, John 15:5-8, John 16:33

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:

Q: Why can rest & peace feel like such an elusive thing in our daily lives?

Q: How do the Scriptures/concepts from this week help you grow as a disciple who loves God, loves people & serves the world (lives on incarnational mission) in everyday life?

Q: Based on these Scriptures, how can you move from unbelief to belief, from just knowing to actually doing in your life?

Connect with God (UP)...

Q: How does the finished work of Christ provide us needed rest? Practically, what would our lives be like without it?

Q: Does the work of remaining in Christ feel more like a chore or a joy to you? What steps can you take to enjoy connecting with God?

Connect with Others(IN)...

Q: What parts of resting & remaining in Christ are most benefitted by doing it in community with other believers?

Connect with the World (OUT)...

Q: What types of “heavy yokes” do you see people carrying in the world around you? How could the way you live reveal the “easy yoke” that is available to them?

ACTION STEPS:

1) Plan a “date” with God this week. If you’re looking for plans, try reading Psalm 23 & Psalm 63.

2) In moments of struggle this week, preach the Gospel to yourself. Develop a few Gospel truths that you can repeat to yourself.
