TODAY:
Galatians - Christ Alone Part 7: Adopted Inheritance
BIG IDEA:
One of, if not the best ways to understand salvation is adoption
SCRIPTURES:
Galatians 3:26-4:7, Ephesians 4:22-24
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Q: What would you do with a significant inheritance?
Q: How do the Scriptures/concepts from this week help you grow as a disciple who loves God, loves people & serves the world (lives on incarnational mission) in everyday life?
Q: Based on these Scriptures, how can you move from unbelief to belief, from just knowing to actually doing in your life?
Connect with God (UP)...
Q: Read Galatians 3:26-4:7. Why do you think Paul specifically used adoption as an example to explain God’s love? What can we learn from this & what implications does this have for your life?
Q: How is adoptive love so different from other kinds of “love” that the world glamorizes?
Connect with Others(IN)...
Q: Read Galatians 3:26-28. Why is Paul’s use of “sons” (even though it’s often translated “children”) so significant?
Q: The Church is the diverse yet unified family of God. What are some diverse things about our church? How can these things be used to appreciate God’s creativity & actually bond us closer together in unity around God’s Gospel, Truth, Word & Mission?
Connect with the World (OUT)...
Q: In so many ways, our world is desperate for acceptance & belonging. How can you share the Good News of God’s transformative grace, adoptive love & inheritance with the world around you? (Or if you haven’t trusted Jesus yet, do you want to??)
ACTION STEPS
1) Examine your salvation: is it a “transaction”, or a real, intimate relationship with God as “Father”?
2) Examine what you’re doing with the inheritance that has been entrusted to you?
3) “Cry out to” God as a loving adoptive Father, who desires you & gives you real belonging!
